The textured paintings on this page are created with modeling paste which is similar to plaster.  They also have a layer of heavy gesso which can add to the texture if I choose to do so.

About the Images

This is similar to the textured florals only in that the texture helps determine what will appear on the page.  The impulse for the desired scene often doesn't come until a few layers of paint have been put on the textured canvas.
